Why Amazon sales are not profit
Every order carries referral fees, closing fees and shipping fees. Returns cost you twice — the refund and the reverse shipping — and an unreturned refund costs you the product as well. Advertising is charged separately. Without putting all of it together per SKU, a best-selling product can quietly lose money.
How profit is calculated
- Payout — the final amount Amazon paid for the order after all fees, refunds and credits.
- Cost — your cost price per master SKU (GST included), with history, so old orders use old costs.
- Returns — when the product came back, its cost is not counted as lost.
- Replacement pairs — cost is counted only for the units the customer kept.
- Advertising — deducted from the month's profit.
Reports you get
